USATF Outdoor Championships Central

Eleven current and former members of the California track and field team will be participating in the USATF Outdoor Championships from Thursday, June 25, through Sunday, June 28, at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

The United States' best athletes will be vying for the chance to represent Team USA in Berlin, Germany this August at the IAAF World Championships, the first major international track and field event in the Olympic stadium since the 1936 Olympic Games.

The current Golden Bears competing are Michael Coe (1500), Ryan Young (javelin), Mark Matusak (1500), Sebastian Sam (junior 800) and recent graduate Katie Morgan (pole vault). The Cal alumni scheduled to participate are Alysia Johnson (800), Ed Wright (high jump), David Torrence (1500), Grace Upshaw (long jump), Kristin Heaston (shot put) and Rhuben Williams (shot put).

ESPN will broadcast live coverage of the championships on Friday, June 26, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, June 27, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on NBC on Sunday, June 28, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
