BERKELEY - Martin Maric won the 2009 NCAA title in the men's discus Saturday in the final day of the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., making the senior from Split, Croatia, the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week. Maric posted a mark of 196-3 (59.82m) to win the title. He won the competition on his last throw, moving from third to first. Arizona State's Ryan Whiting came in second with a throw of 196-2. For the second straight year, Maric has earned All-America honors in the discus. Saturday's performance caps off a tremendous finish to Maric's collegiate career. The 2008 Croatian Olympian ends his senior campaign with a national and a regional championship. "What a clutch performance and a great finish to his collegiate career," said director of track and field Tony Sandoval.
