THIS WEEK IN CAL TRACK & FIELD: Track & field athletes from more than 15 universities from around the country, as well as a host of competitors competing for club teams or unattached, descend on Berkeley this weekend for the Brutus Hamilton Open and Invitational.

Friday's events are deemed the Brutus Hamilton Open and run all day, with field events starting at 9 a.m. and track events at 2 p.m. The Brutus Hamilton Invitational is Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. on the field and 1:30 p.m. on the track.

Among the schools visiting Edwards Stadium are Academy of Art, Chico State, Fresno State, Harvard, New Mexico, USF, Stanford, Utah State and UC Davis.

TOP 10 BEARS: Heading into this week's action, several members of Cal's track & field team are ranked among the top 25 in the nation in their respective events, including Tracey Stewart, who is fifth in the triple jump and 15th in the long jump, and NCAA decathlon leader Mike Morrison.

BIG MEET RECAP: Cal captured 15 events during the annual Big Meet at Stanford last Saturday, but the Bears fell to the Cardinal in the dual - 98-65 (men) and 88-75 (women). Both Ray Stewart and Tracey Stewart (no relation) were double-winners on the afternoon. Ray claimed the 100 meters (PR 10.57) and 110-meter hurdles (13.81),while Tracey PR'd during victories in the long jump (20-6.50) and triple jump (43-9.75). Sofia Oberg made her 2011 outdoor debut and held off Stanford's Madeline Duhon by 0.01 seconds in the 1500 (4:21.60). Cal also swept the men's long jump, women's discus and women's hammer.

GOLDEN BEAR NOTES: 25 Golden Bear seniors will be recognized for their contributions to the program during a ceremony Saturday afternoon ... Mike Morrison was named Pac-10 Male Field Athlete of the Week April 11 after winning the Texas Relays decathlon ... a Cal runner has broken the four-minute barrier in the Don Bowden Mile at each of the last three Brutus Hamilton Invites - David Torrence (3:59.10, 2008), Michael Coe (school-record 3:56.18, 2009) and Steve Sodaro (3:59.42, 2010).
