TEMPE, Ariz. - Redshirt freshman Kyle Mills-Bunje came in seventh in the decathlon with 6,673 points in the Pac-10 Multi-Event Championships today in Tempe, Ariz. Junior Tifani Grimes took ninth in the heptathlon with 4,863 points.

Mills-Bunje recorded a new personal best in the 1500 meters and in the javelin. He notched a mark of 166-00 (50.60m) in the javelin and crossed the finish line at 4:59.89 in the 1500. His mark in the javelin was the third best among all competitors. Mills-Bunje also clocked a 16.74 in the 110-meter hurdles, recorded a 101-10 (31.05m) in the discus and a 14-11 (4.55m) in the pole vault. Oregon's Ashton Eaton won the decathlon with 7,604 points.

Grimes recorded a mark of 112-09 (34.37m) in the javelin. She also clocked a time of 2:30.58 in the 800 meters and notched a 17-7 (5.36m) in the long jump. Arizona State's Jacquelyn Johnson took top honors in the heptathlon with 6,307 points.

Junior Kristin Holmes did not finish the heptathlon after earning a mark of 17-10.75 (5.54m) in the long jump.

California also competed on Saturday at the UC Davis Aggie Twilight meet. The Golden Bears won two events as freshman Hayley Huxtable won the 200 meters with a time of 25.24 and freshman Natalya Beneby took first in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a 1:01.35. Sophomore Rebecca Palm earned a PR in the 5000 at 17:46.90. Freshman Chelsea Reilly clocked a personal best in the 800 at 2:18.49. Senior Jonathan Suddaby recorded a season-best time in the 400 at 50.97. Complete results can be found here

California returns to Tempe, Ariz. next weekend for the 2008 Pac-10 Outdoor Championships from May 16-17.
