UC Berkeley, Gilead Sciences and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland Are Playing for the Future
Great futures start at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland, where local youth find safe places to learn and grow.
That's why UC Berkeley and Bay Area biotechnology company Gilead Sciences have teamed up to help nurture the innovative thinkers of tomorrow. All season long, Gilead will donate $50 to the Boys & Girls Clubs for every Cal Bears assist. That's enough to sponsor one child's activities at the Clubs for the entire year - including critical mentoring and leadership development programs.
This season, the Bears' assists don't just lead to points on the board - they're a meaningful investment in tomorrow's leaders. Listen to what young people themselves have to say:
"The Boys & Girls Club means so much to me, it holds the key to my life, and it unlocked the best in me to make me the person that I am today." -- LaShae Debose, 2011-2012 Boys & Girls Club of Oakland Youth of the Year
A winning season for the Bears means a winning year for Oakland school kids. Go Bears!
