Mayer Named ITA Scholar-Athlete
BERKELEY – Audrey Mayer became a ITA Scholar-Athlete, the ITA announced on Tuesday, after the California women's tennis junior posted a 3.62 grade-point average for the 2016-17 school year.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
Mayer is a business administration major who is currently in southern California working as a community affairs and relations intern with the Los Angeles Rams. When she's not in class or playing, practicing and traveling with the Golden Bears, the Somis, California, product also finds the time to work for CalTV, the student-run online news and entertainment organization.
On the courts this past season, Mayer helped the Golden Bears post a 19-6 record, take second place in the Pac-12 Conference and reach the round of the 16 in the NCAA tournament.
