Several Golden Bears enter the meet ranked among the conference's leaders, including 10 who are among the top three in their respective events: Robert Brandt (2nd, 10,000m, 28:48.38), Ashtyn Davis (2nd, men's 110m hurdles, 13.65), Connor Meech (3rd, men's 400m hurdles, 51.01), Peter Simon (3rd, men's shot put, 63-8.25), Bethan Knights (1st, women's 10,000m, 33:31.25), Lauren Martinez (3rd, women's pole vault, 13-8.25), Ashley Anderson (2nd, women's triple jump, 42-9.00, Kendall Mader (2nd, women's discus, 174-7), Destiny Parker (2nd, women's hammer, 202-5) and Ilse Kaaja (3rd, women's hammer, 199-1).

Cal also picked up points last week when sophomore Tyler Brendel finished third in the decathlon with a PR-total of 7,413 points.

• LAST TIME OUT: BRENDEL 3RD AT MULTIS
Buoyed by a pair of lifetime bests in his final two events, sophomore Tyler Brendel posted a score of 7,413 last Sunday to finish third in the decathlon at the Pac-12 Championships. Brendel's total was a personal best and moved him up to eighth in school history. In fourth place after day one and the first five events, he improved his PR in the javelin by 15 feet, throwing 167-4, then posted a time of 4:16.28 in the 1500m, a nearly nine-second improvement.

•LAST YEAR AT PAC-12S
At the 2016 Pac-12 meet, Cal produced a conference champion in Isabella Marten, who captured the women's triple jump with a mark of 43-8.00. While she has graduated, several other returnees posted high finishes at the meet. Among them were Ashtyn Davis, the runner-up in the men's 100m hurdles (14.07), and two others who placed third in their events - Bethan Knights (3rd, women's 10,000m) and Ilsa Kaaja (3rd, wome's hammer). As a team, the Cal men were ninth, while the Cal women finished in 10th place.

• THE FOOTBALL/TRACK COMBO
Three members of Cal's track & field team also suit up for football in the fall - Ashtyn Davis, Malik McMorris and Demetris Robertson. Davis, Cal's top 110m hurdler, is a football defensive back who registered 25 tackles last season. McMorris is the Bears' discus leader with a best of 182-11, while he is a reserve fullback on the gridiron and has seen action in every game the past two seasons. Robertson, meanwhile, is a track & field sprinter who puts his speed to good use in football, having earned Freshman All-American honors as a wide receiver in 2016 after catching 50 passes for 767 yards and seven touchdowns.

• THE TOP 10S A-CHANGIN'
No less than 21 marks posted this year have earned spots on Cal's all-time top 10 list. Perhaps the biggest impact came the night of March 31 at the Stanford Invitational when Robert Brandt ran Cal's No. 2 time in the men's 10,000m (28:48.39) and Bethan Knights the No. 3 women's 10K (33:31.25).
