Cal-Oregon Postgame Notes

  • Ross Bowers connected with Kanawai Noa for a 75-yard TD pass in the third quarter – the longest completion and reception of their careers, as well as the longest play from the line of scrimmage by a Pac-12 team through the first five weeks of the 2017 season, and Noa's first career touchdown. It was the longest pass play for the Bears since Jared Goff hit Bryce Treggs for 80 yards at Oregon on Nov. 7, 2015.
  • Noa finished with career highs of seven receptions and 126 yards receiving, the second straight game he's had more than 100 yards receiving (110 vs. USC). Over his past three games, Noa has 19 receptions for 317 yards.
  • Jordan Kunaszyk picked off his first pass of the year and second of his career, returning it 53 yards late in the first half. Kunaszyk's first INT came in overtime vs. Oregon last year, a play that ended the game in the Bears' 52-49 double overtime victory. The 53-yard interception return was the longest by a Cal player since Mychal Kendricks' 68-yd return for a TD at UCLA in 2009.
  • Bowers finished 23-for-41 for 255 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
  • Jordan Veasy caught an 18-yard TD pass from Bowers near the end of the second quarter, his second TD catch in as many games, third of the season and sixth of his career.
  • Matt Anderson scored six points on a field goal and three extra points to increase his career total to 258 points. As a result, he moved up to fourth on Cal's career list and is just 30 points shy of Doug Brien's school record of 288 points.
  • Devante Downs recorded eight tackles to give him 201 in his career. He is 57 stops away from moving into Cal's all-time top 10.
  • With its one interception, Cal increased its total to 12 turnovers gained this season. The Bears entered the game tied for third in the nation with 11.
  • Ashtyn Davis recorded career highs, team season highs and game highs of seven kickoff returns and 168 kickoff return yards (also a career-high 168 all-purpose yards), while his seven kick returns equaled the most by a Pac-12 player through the first five weeks of the 2017 season.
  • Alex Funches had a career-high 2.0 tackles for loss.
  • Vic Wharton III had season highs of two punt returns for seven punt return yards including a season-long eight-yard punt return.
  • Jeremiah Hawkins recorded a career-high three receptions, while Zion Echols had the first catch of his career.
  • Evan Weaver posted a career-high six tackles.
  • Chase Forrest became the first Cal quarterback to see action other than Ross Bowers this season.
  • Dylan Klumph punted a career-high-tying and season-high seven times, registering a punt of 50 or more yards for the fifth consecutive contest this season
