BERKELEY – The Cal volleyball program will honor its only Olympian ever on "Carli Lloyd Night" on Sept. 9 at the Cal Classic at Haas Pavilion.

Lloyd, the 2010 AVCA National Player of the Year and three-time AVCA All-American, led the Golden Bears to their only two NCAA Final Four appearances ever – in 2007 and 2010. Lloyd was a member of the 12-member United States Olympic Team that took home the bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"We couldn't be happier to be able to honor Carli," Cal coach Rich Feller said. "During her time at Cal and ever since she left, Carli has been an incredible representative of our program and university. We are so proud that she was able to represent the United States at the Olympics and we are looking forward to recognizing her."

Lloyd will be on hand for the Bears' match on Sept. 9 against West Virginia, which is part of the Cal Classic. The match begins at 7 p.m., and there will be a special pre-match ceremony to honor Lloyd's Olympic experience. She is the only Cal volleyball student-athlete ever to make an Olympic team.

Prior to the match, Lloyd will host a Q&A session in the Haas Pavilion Club Room. All fans are invited to attend.

The start of the match is subject to change based on the length of the match that immediately precedes it between Santa Clara and Grand Canyon.
