BERKELEY – A new clear bag policy designed to enhance safety and security for fans attending games at Haas Pavilion will be in effect starting this weekend with the Molten Classic volleyball tournament.
 
In light of recent world events and with the recommendation of the UC Police Department and other security experts, Cal is implementing a plan the mirrors that of many NFL and Major League Baseball stadiums, including all of those in Northern California, and the majority of Pac-12 schools.
 
Beginning this fall, clear backpacks and bags will be allowed inside the stadium, provided they (and the contents inside them) meet defined specifications.
 
Each person attending a game will be allowed to bring in one large clear bag – either a one-gallon Ziploc-style bag or a 12'' by 6" by 12" clear bag – plus a small clutch.
 
Exceptions will be made for patrons with diaper bags or medical needs.
