KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Reigning Pac-12 Player of the Year Arielle Ship has been named to the Watch List for the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy, the National Soccer Coaches Assocation of America (NSCAA) announced today.

The Watch Lists for the women's and men's soccer awards - the most presitgious in college soccer - were put together by each sport's respective NSCAA NCAA Division I All-America Committees and included 2015 All-Americans and All-Region selections returning to campus.

Ship, who earned Cal's first-ever conference player of the year award in women's soccer, was one of 24 players on the 36-member list that were named NSCAA All-Americans during the 2015 campaign. The native of Westlake Village, Calif. also earned All-Pac-12 First Team honors last season.

Overall, Ship put together a year that was rivaled by no other in the league. As a junior, she exploded offensively with 14 goals, 34 points and six game-winning goals – all top marks in the league – as she became the first Golden Bear to lead the league in points and goals since Laura Schott did so in 2000 and 2001. She also dished six assists, good for third in the Pac-12. Ship netted two hat tricks on the year, earned two Pac-12 weekly honors, four national weekly honors and was also named the consensus National Player of the Week on September 9 when she was selected as the country's top player by the NSCAA, TopDrawerSoccer and ESPNW. Her seven-point outing against UCLA with three goals and one assist goes down as the third-best single-game performance in program history.

Near the end of the collegiate regular season, NCAA Division I coaches whose programs are NSCAA College Services program members, will participate in the 2016 NSCAA All-America selection process and the MAC Hermann Trophy lists will be narrowed down to the top 15 players for men and women. College soccer fans will also have the opportunity to participate in the selection process, by voting for their favorite semifinalists in November at the MAC Hermann Trophy website, managed by LockerDome.

From that pool of 30, a total of six finalists (three men, three women) will be chosen for the final balloting for the award. The finalists will be invited to St. Louis for the official announcement of the two winners at a press conference prior to the annual MAC Hermann Trophy Banquet.
