ATHENS, Ga. – A tremendous weekend of racing concluded Sunday with even more success in the pool for the Cal men's swimming team as the Bears captured the team title at the Georgia Fall Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia.

At the conclusion of three days of racing, Cal owned a commanding lead to take the team title. The Bears scored 859 points, outdistancing second-place Georgia, which finished with 710. Auburn placed third with 656.

After two strong days staked Cal to the team lead, the Bears left no doubt on Sunday. That started with a strong swim in the 1,650-yard freestyle by Nick Norman as the sophomore finished in a time of 14:51.89 that was over 15 seconds faster than Michigan's Blake Maczka in second place.

The 200 backstroke came next and Ryan Murphy made it a double for the weekend as he finished three seconds clear of Georgia's Jay Litherland to win in a time of 1:38.65. The mark also gives the senior his NCAA A standard in the event, qualifying him for both the 100 and 200 as he looks to win both for the fourth straight year.

With four swimmers in the 100 freestyle, Cal stood a good shot of picking up more team points and the Bears didn't disappoint as Michael Jensen led a Cal contingent that finished in places two through four. Jensen, Justin Lynch, Pawel Sendyk and 'Aukai Lileikis touched the wall one after another and senior Dillon Williams also got in on the point-scoring festivities, winning the B final to add another good finish for the Bears.

Three more Cal swimmers made the A final in the 200 breaststroke and senior Hunter Cobleigh put the finishing touches on a standout fall campaign by winning with a time of 1:55.24. Matt Whittle and Carson Sand also reached the A final and Connor Hoppe won the B final.

A day of good swims continued in the 200 butterfly with Andrew Seliskar and Mike Thomas finishing second and third behind only Georgia's Chase Kalisz. Seliskar's time of 1:40.74 achieved the A standard in the event.

The Bears wrapped up the weekend with another relay win, achieving yet another NCAA A standard with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay. Murphy got things rolling, Jensen took up the charge next, Lynch jumped in to keep the lead and Seliskar finished it off as Cal finished with a time of 2:49.84. Another Cal team fought hard to take third, with the team of Lileikis, Sendyk, Dillon Williams and Mike Thomas finishing in 2:53.13.

Sunday marks the end of the fall season for the Bears, who will look to training camp over the holidays before returning to competition on Jan. 14-15 with the Cal Invitational. Dual meet action resumes Jan. 20 and 21 at Arizona and Arizona State.
