Knights Named First Team All-Pac-12
SAN FRANCISCO - Thanks to her stellar performance at the 2016 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships, junior
Bethan Knights has been named a First Team All-Pac-12 selection, the conference announced this week.
Knights earned the honor with her seventh place finish at this year's championship meet in Arizona, adding to her First Team laurels in 2014 after running third in the conference event that season. Knights was the top performer in Cal's sixth place team finish at Pac-12s.
"It is quite an honor to see Bethan receive another first team all-conference once again. To have her achieve a top 10 performance in a stacked field of top tier individuals was tremendous," head coach
Shayla Houlihan said of Knights' accomplishment.
Knights, a 2014 USTFCCCA All-American, will help lead the Bears into next week's NCAA West Regionals in nearby Sacramento while looking to secure a place in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on November 19.
"[Being named First Team All-Pac-12] is great momentum for Bethan as she looks to Regionals and the NCAA Final. She will be learning as much as possible about her opponents for the coming races," Houlihan added.
