Bears Add Trevin Knell To 2017 Recruiting Class
BERKELEY – California men's basketball's 2017 recruiting class has grown to three with the addition of sharpshooter Trevin Knell, who inked his National Letter of Intent Thursday, head coach
Cuonzo Martin announced.
"Trevin is a shooter with unlimited range. His ability to make shots from distance under pressure is fascinating," Martin said. "He's worked relentlessly on improving his strength and quickness."
The 6-5, three-star guard from Woods Cross, Utah, Knell was a Standard-Examiner All-Area First Team selection last year after averaging more than 21 points and 3.6 3-pointers per game. His Woods Cross high school squad, which went 19-5 last season and won the Region 5 title, was named among MaxPreps' 2016-17 Utah preseason high school Fab 5, citing Knell as "a nightmare to deal with for opposing defenses."
Regarded as one of the top catch-and-shoot players in the region, ESPN ranks Knell as the second-best player in Utah, while 247Sports.com has him as the third-best player in the state.
Though he signed his NLI with the 2017 class, Knell plans on serving a two-year LDS Church mission immediately following high school graduation and will reclassify to 2019.
Knell is the third pick-up for the Bears in the early signing period, joining California four-star recruits Jemarl Baker and Juhwan Harris-Dyson, who signed on with Cal on Wednesday.
