Bears Set For Pac-12 Championships
BERKELEY --- The California men's and women's cross country teams will vie for a pair of conference titles tomorrow morning at the Pac-12 Championships in Tucson, Arizona.
The University of Arizona will play host to the 31st edition of the women's championship (9:30 a.m. PT; 6K) and the 48th iteration of the men's championship (10:30 a.m. PT; 8K).
Fans will be able to view the races on tape delay on Pac-12 Network on Monday, October 31 at 6 p.m. PT.
Cal will be looking to improve on both teams' 7th place finishes in the 2015 championships and attempting to claim the first Pac-12 cross country crowns for the Golden Bears programs.
The No. 25 Cal women - one of seven conference teams in the USTFCCCA Top 30 - will send a lineup of
Megan Bordes,
Marissa Dobry,
Skyler Flora,
Natalie Herberg,
Bethan Knights,
Xochitl Navarrete,
Nuria Tio Peig and
Marissa Williams. Knights (2014 All-American) and Williams (2015 All-Pac-12 performer) will headline the Bear outfit.
On the men's side, Cal will send
Robert Brandt,
Trent Brendel,
Garrett Corcoran,
Steve Correa,
Takeshi Okada,
Cameron Tu and
Paul Zeiss to Tucson, with Tu returning as a 2015 all-conference choice.
"The team's primary goal is to execute their race plans," head coach
Shayla Houlihan said prior to her first conference meets as Cal's head coach. "We have an opportunity to compete with the top teams in the nation in our conference. It will be such a great experience to be able to race against them on Friday."
