Nate Pine is the newest member of the California Athletic Development staff. Pine joins Sandy Barbour's team after a three plus year stint at The United States Military Academy as Associate Athletic Director. At Cal, Pine will oversee all aspects of the major gift program for athletics and he will work extensively on raising funds to renovate Memorial Stadium.
In his three plus years at West Point, Nate Pine established himself as a key member of Kevin Anderson's senior management team for Army Athletics. Pine was most recently responsible for the development, evaluation, negotiation, administration and implementation of all business initiatives for Army Athletics. In addition to his role in business development Pine worked in concert with Anderson to lead and supervise strategic planning initiatives for Army Athletics. Pine represented Army's interests in the coordination and execution of the national "Request for Proposal (RFP)" and contract extension with CBS Sports for the 2010-2018 Army-Navy football games. Pine also oversaw all elements of the Army-Navy commercial sponsorship rights.
Prior to his promotion in the spring of 2008 Pine held the position of Associate Athletic Director for External Operations at Army. Pine oversaw unprecedented increases in athletics fundraising, major facility construction and improvements, increased ticket sales, the implementation of a priority points system and substantial increases in revenues to Army Athletics. Pine also successfully negotiated and managed Army's commercial sponsorship rights for the 2007 Army / Navy Football Game in Baltimore, MD.
A 2000 graduate of Oregon State University, Pine began his career as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Event Management upon his graduation form his alma mater. He joined the Beaver's fundraising team in September of 2000 as a Development Officer for Athletics, he then went on to become the Regional Director of Development and establish regional fundraising for Oregon State University in the Southern and Central Oregon regions in support of the Beaver Athletic Scholarship Fund. Pine was instrumental in the unprecedented growth in fundraising at Oregon State University where the annual support to the Beaver Athletic Student Fund grew from $3 million to more than $5 million annually during his tenure. Pine was also heavily involved in capital construction projects at Oregon State University. With his help OSU Athletics was able to complete construction on a $93 million dollar stadium renovation, construction of a $10 million dollar indoor facility and the construction of a $2 million dollar softball complex.
Active at the national and conference level, Pine currently serves on the Men's & Women's NCAA Rifle Committee. He works at the league level to improve communications for fundraising and external operations. Pine is an active member of NACDA.
A native of Eagle Point, Oregon, Pine was born August 5, 1977; he resides in New Windsor, New York and is married to the former Stephanie Strowbridge, a 2003 graduate of Oregon State University.
