BERKELEY - Listen Live on Cal All-Access (6 p.m. PT)New California football offensive coordinator Tony Franklin will be one of this week's guests on the Cal Coaches Corner radio show Monday night. The show will take place at its' new location, La Val's Pizza at 1834 Euclid Avenue in Berkeley. Joining Franklin on the show will be a pair of Golden Bear head coaches (Mike Montgomery - men's basketball and Justin Howell - women's gymnastics) and men's basketball player Robert Thurman. The program airs live from 6-7 p.m. on Mondays. Fans can watch in person or listen on NewsTalk 910 AM or online at CalBears.com Franklin was officially named Cal's new offenisve coordinator on Dec. 11 by head coach Sonny Dykes. The Dykes era at Cal will begin with three consecutive home games at the recently renovated Memorial Stadium when the Bears open their 2013 season against Northwestern (August 31), Portland State (September 7) and Ohio State (September 14). The 6-3 men's basketball team suffered its third loss of the season against Creighton last Saturday night. In that contest, Thurman scored four points, snagged three rebounds and tallied an assist. The Bears are in the midst of a five-game homestand. The next contest, third in the homestand, will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 8 p.m. against UC Santa Barbara. Howell and the women's gymnastics team opens the 2013 season on Sunday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. in a quad meet vs. Arizona, Auburn and Kentucky at Haas Pavilion. The event can be seen on the Pac-12 Networks. The Cal Coaches Corner, hosted by Todd McKim, is broadcast each Monday from August through March and includes interviews and features with Golden Bear coaches, student-athletes and alumni from all 29 intercollegiate sports.
