BERKELEY -
Due to limited public parking areas near Memorial Stadium as well as to lessen impact on the environment, fans attending Cal football games are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the many public transportation options available.
The primary mass transit methods to reach Berkeley on gamedays are BART, the Cal Bears Bus shuttle and the Capitol Corridor train.
Convenient shuttles will run to Memorial Stadium from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station before each game. Pick up the shuttle in front of the Bank of America building on Shattuck Avenue, or walk to the West Crescent and take a cable car up to the stadium through campus. The shuttle service begins two hours before kickoff, with routes and schedules found here.
Visit bart.gov for BART schedules and train information. Note that will be no direct shuttle service from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station.
Silverado Stages will operate the Cal Bears Bus shuttle, picking up fans on three routes - from Rockridge BART, from the Amtrak Station at University Avenue and Third Street in Berkeley, and from Pittsburg with several additional stops in Contra Costa Country. Buses at the Rockridge station will pick up patrons along College Avenue near Miles Avenue and Claremont Middle School.
The cost will be $5 for round-trip tickets and $3 for one-way service. Shuttles will begin running four hours prior to kickoff and will continue up to four hours after the game. Once at Memorial Stadium, the buses from Contra Costa County will drop off/pick up along Warring Street closest to Gate 5, while buses from the other two routes will stage along Piedmont Avenue in front of the stadium.
To book your ticket, visit CalBearsBus.com or call (866) 766-4937.
The Cal Bears Bus service replaces a similar service operated by AC Transit in previous years. AC Transit will continue to run its normal service along the 51 route on home football gamedays.
Finally, the Capitol Corridor runs from Sacramento to the Bay Area daily and offers train rides to every Cal football home game. Take the Capitol Corridor to either the Richmond or Oakland Coliseum BART stations. Then ride BART to the Downtown Berkeley station, where you can pick up the Cal football shuttle. For more information, call (877) 9-RIDECC or visit www.capitolcorridor.org.
Fans who do choose to drive should be aware that fines will be doubled on residential streets near Memorial Stadium. Parking violations will be enforced in two-hour residential, disabled, tow-away and red zones.
