BERKELEY -The Cal Coaches Corner returns to the airwaves Monday on KNEW Radio (910 AM) and will once again be broadcast live from the Paragon at the Claremont Hotel, Club and Spa from 6-7 p.m. Golden Bear fans are invited to listen in person to a lineup that features football coach Jeff Tedford, Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour and volleyball head coach Rich Feller among the guests.
Host Todd McKim will also be joined by senior Matt Summers-Gavin from the Cal football team during the show.
The Cal Coaches Corner runs through late March and offers interviews and features with Golden Bear coaches, student-athletes, alumni and many others to highlight all 29 of Cal's intercollegiate athletic programs each week.
With training camp now concluded, Tedford and Summers-Gavin will talk about the upcoming season, which kicks off Saturday, Sept. 1, at noon against Nevada in the newly-renovated California Memorial Stadium. For tickets, click here. For more information on Memorial Stadium, click here.
A two-time conference coach of the year, Tedford enters his 11th season at the helm with a 79-48 record. He is the school's all-time winningest coach. After a brief one-year absence, Tedford brought Cal back into the bowl scene last season with a trip to the Holiday Bowl. After the Nevada game, the Bears have six more home games scheduled, including the Big Game against Stanford on Oct. 20 and a Friday night clash against Washington on Nov. 2.
Feller and his 17th-ranked volleyball squad opened the year this past weekend in San Diego for the Aztec Invitational, where the Bears went 1-1. They defeated Delaware, 3-0, in the season opener before falling to host-San Diego State, 3-2. Cal heads to Hawai'i next weekend for the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic.
