Cal Offers Fans Free Desktop Alert Application, The B-Line

Aug. 19, 2009

BERKELEY - Cal Athletics announced Thursday it will offer a free downloadable desktop alert application - the B-Line - on CalBears.com, providing fans and alumni instant access to information related to the Golden Bears.

The Cal Bears Desktop Communicator updates and delivers the latest content on CalBears.com. Some of the features include summarized news and story headlines that link back to full articles on the official site and pop-up alerts that notify fans of breaking team news, new videos, media releases and special offers. This streamlined program will not slow down computer speed or hinder its performance.

Free software for the B-Line is available for both PCs and Macs and can be downloaded by clicking here.

CalBears.com is produced and hosted by CBS College Sports Network, a leader in the official collegiate athletic website business with over 200 colleges and universities currently under contract. The B-Line was provided to Cal and CalBears.com through a partnership agreement between CBS College Sports Network and New Tier, Inc., a pioneer and industry leader in digital marketing solutions. CBS College Sports Network and New Tier are facilitating the launch of similar versions of the B-Line at 75 colleges and universities by the fall of 2009.

"CBS College Sports Network is thrilled to bring the B-Line to the users of CalBears.com and to fans and alumni of the University of California around the world," said Robert Schupler, Senior Vice President, University Sales & Marketing for CBS College Sports Network. "The B-Line is a lot like having your own personal sporting news ticker docked at the bottom of your screen, providing the latest news, scores and information directly to the desktop."
