BERKELEY -
University of California student-athletes will celebrate Earth Day with a volunteer tree planting on campus on Monday afternoon (April 21). Volunteers representing all 27 Golden Bear sport programs will be participating in the fun and meaningful sustainability activity to enhance the campus landscape.
"The students and the department are very excited to take part in an event like this," Director of Student-Athlete Development Amy Bair said. "It will be a fun chance for the athletes to work together with other people from campus to make a difference that will be clearly visible for many years."
Participants are asked to meet for registration at 3 p.m. at the top of the slope in the Faculty Glade, west of Hertz Hall and northeast of Morrison Hall. The activity will include hands on preparations and planting of new trees including live oaks in Faculty Glade, flowering pears east of Krober Hall and dogwoods north of Morrison Hall.
