BERKELEY - Cal High Performance director Keith Power has been named to the advisory board for Leaders in Performance, an organization that creates a network of elite individuals and events which are considered the "best of the best." The London-based group is beginning a transition into the United States with a conference scheduled for June 4-5 in New York City. The goals for Leaders in Performance are essentially the same as Cal High Performance but on a much larger scale throughout the United States, North America and the world. Since 2009, this two-day event has drawn the world's top coaching talent for learning and networking. Over the past four years, it has become an annual sell-out summit for 350 elite coaches from 30 sports and 25 countries, hosting the biggest names in the industry from world soccer, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, cricket, Olympic sports, rugby, extreme sports, golf, tennis, Formula 1 racing, boxing, college sports and many more. Power was invited to sit on the advisory board which consists of 10 people who are elite administrators, coaches or high performance staff and leaders in the business industry. The panel includes the technical director of Major League Soccer (MLS), the COO of the San Francisco 49ers, the High Performance director of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and high performance managers of the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, New York Rangers and New York Yankees, as well as Saatchi and Bloomberg board members. During the two-day conference, Power will be running a high performance master class session. His role more specifically will be to work with other board members to promote the advancement of high performance thinking in the U.S. and share the best global practices from sports and business. Power said the fact that Cal is the only NCAA institution on this advisory board is a huge reflection of Cal's creditability and standing in the world of high performance. He also called the opportunity a tremendous personal honor. |
