2007 CAL FOOTBALL CAMPS
As the Head Football Coach of the University of California, I can assure you that you or your son will receive the finest instruction available from our outstanding coaching staff. Every member of our staff takes pride in their ability to teach and develop players, while providing a safe and positive environment in the process. Our low coach-to-player ratio ensures that each player in attendance will receive the personal attention required to improve his skills. I expect the Cal Football Camp to be one of the most enjoyable experiences of you or your son's youth.
Please review the following information provided, and we hope to have your son join us this summer." -- Jeff Tedford
CAMP SCHEDULE & DESCRIPTION
NON-CONTACT YOUTH CAMP (Youth Ages 7-13)
The Cal Non-Contact Youth Football Camp is available to participants ages 7-13. This is a non-contact camp intended for the learning & development of offensive and defensive skills at every position. Our camp includes instruction on position play and the fundamentals and techniques needed to learn and improve the skills required in the game of football.
FULL CONTACT INDIVIDUAL CAMP (Youth entering grades 9-12)
FULL CONTACT TEAM CAMP (Youth entering grades 9-12)
Experienced coaches conduct all contact drills while maintaining the safest environment possible for all players participating. Only after a player demonstrates the ability to execute the fundamentals of tackling correctly will he be allowed to participate in a contact drill or scrimmage situation.
Although the camp focuses on specialized instruction for players at every position, all players in attendance have opportunities during each practice to compete as a member of a team against competition of similar skill and age level.
Following the second practice each evening, players are placed on "7-on-7 teams" for a two-day tournament. All offensive and defensive linemen compete nightly in drills designed to develop techniques specific to their particular positions.
Each camp session includes:
KICKING CAMP (Youth entering grades 9-12)
The Cal Kicking Camp is intended to provide young kickers, punters and long-snappers with an opportunity to improve their skills while learning from some of the finest specialists in the country. In addition to on-field practice sessions, emphasis will be placed on the mental aspects of training and dealing with pressure.
The University of California has among the most NFL kickers and punters to play in the history of the league, and currently leads the country with the most active kickers, punters and long-snappers (Doug Brien - Bears / Ryan Longwell - Vikings / Nick Harris - Lions / David Binn - Chargers / L.P. Ladouceur - Cowboys / Tyler Fredrickson - Broncos). Former Cal kickers and punters with NFL experience include: Ray Wersching, Jim Breech, Mick Luckhurst, Scott Tabor, Robbie Keen, and Mark Jensen.
We encourage you to join us in camp this summer and to learn how Cal continues to produce the best kickers and punters of any college football program in America.
