Volleyball Ranked No. 11 to Open 2010

The Golden Bears hold the No. 11 ranking in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll. The Pac-10 has seven teams in the top 20 alone. Defending conference champion Stanford holds the highest ranking at No. 4. Washington checks in at No. 8 with USC not far behind at No. 10. Cal is No. 11, followed by UCLA at No. 16, Arizona at No. 18 and Oregon at No. 20.

Tennis Set to Serve Up a Good Time

2010 Cal Tennis Kickoff Dinner Registration Form

The California men's and women's tennis programs will host their annual fall-season kickoff event on Friday, Sept. 3. Peter Wright and Amanda Augustus welcome fans and supporters alike to their annual Cal Tennis Kickoff Dinner, which will begin at 5 p.m. PT at the Berkeley Tennis Club and will feature exciting exhibition tennis in the Battle of the Decades.

Attendees will have the chance to meet the 2010-11 tennis teams and cheer for their favorite players. The evening program includes refreshments, a no-host bar and exhibition tennis featuring current and past members of the Cal tennis teams. A buffet dinner will follow the on-court action. The Berkeley Tennis Club is located at One Tunnel Road, Berkeley, Calif., 94705.

Tickets are $40 for adults and $15 for youth under the age of 12, when purchased in advance. Prices are $50 and $25 at the door. Please RSVP by Friday, Aug. 27. The Golden Bears are just three days away from reporting for their first fall practice of 2010. Coming off its third consecutive foray as far as the regional championship match in the NCAA tournament, the Cal volleyball team is poised to make some major noise in the premiere conference for collegiate women's volleyball, the Pacific 10.
