Hello everyone, and welcome to the NEW Cal Bears Blog. My name is Jonathan Okanes and I am taking over this forum for Doug Drabik, who did a wonderful job providing thorough and compelling coverage of all of Cal athletics. I hope to maintain what Doug started and continue to provide an informative, fun and colorful source for all of Cal's sports.

I have been around Cal athletics for a long time. Previous to this new endeavor, I was the Cal beat writer for the Bay Area News Group for nine years, covering primarily men's basketball and football but also keeping tabs on all of the sports in Berkeley. I hope my familiarity with Cal's programs, as well as my understanding of the athletic department's culture and mission, will help me produce an insightful and unique take on the Bears.
