Peter Wright & Ben McLachlan Recap Men's Tennis' First-Round Win

The 14th-ranked men's tennis team opened NCAA Championship play with a 4-0 first-round victory over UTSA today at the Hellman Tennis Complex.

Cal will face 22nd-ranked Texas Tech tomorrow at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to the round of 16 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., on the campus of host University of Georgia. The Golden Bears and Red Raiders have split each of their last two meetings the past two years. Texas Tech defeated Cal, 4-1, on Jan. 30, 2011 in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend Tournament in Lubbock, Texas. The previous year, Cal defeated the Red Raiders, 4-0, in the same ITA Kick-Off Weekend Tournament. This will be the first meeting between the two tennis powers in Berkeley.
