In a matchup of former Cal standout pitchers, Brandon Morrow and the Toronto Blue Jay's got the better of Tyson Ross and the Oakland Athletics with a 5-2 victory on Wednesday at Overstock.com Stadium.

The Sacramento Bee's Matt Kawahara recapped the duel of former Cal stars here.

Morrow improved to 4-1 on the year with a season-high 10 strikeouts in six innings of work yesterday. The fifth overall pick in the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft (by the Seattle Mariners before being traded to the Blue Jays in 2009) surrendered just one run on four hits with four walks en route to his fourth-straight victory.

The Rohnert Park, Calif.native, who starred at Cal from 2004-06, enjoyed a strong outing in his first appearance of the season back in his home state as you can see in these highlights of his performance on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Ross (1-3) worked effectively into the sixth for the A's in the loss. He struck out three with three runs on five hits in 5.2 innings of work.

The Oakland, Calif. native, who was a standout at Cal from 2006-08, was a second-round selection by the A's in the 2008 draft.

Ross talked about his performance on Wednesday and about facing his former teammate with the Golden Bears in this post-game interview.
