Men's head basketball coach Mike Montgomery, sophomore Justin Cobbs and senior Harper Kamp addressed the media after tonight's thrilling 86-83 victory over Oregon. Here is video of tonight's postgame press conferences.
Led by a career-high 28 points from sophomore Justin Cobbs, Cal stormed back with 46 second-half points erase a late deficit and defeat Oregon 86-83 Thursday night, in front of a packed Haas Pavilion. The Bears used their season-high point total to improve to 21-6 overall and 11-3 in the Pac-12 Conference and remain in first place in the league.
Oregon (18-8, 9-5 Pac-12), which took a 40-37 lead into the locker room at halftime, held the advantage for most of the second half, stretching is lead to as many as eight points with 5:38 to play. Cal used a 10-2 run over the next 3:57 to tie the game up at 75 all with 1:41 to play. Cobbs contributed six points during the spurt. The Bears then took their first lead of the second half with a Jorge Guttierez successful free throw to pull ahead 76-75. Cal then followed an Oregon basket with a three-point play by Harper Kamp to regain the advantage and the Bears never looked back en route to the victory. With Cal holding a three-point lead, the Ducks had one final chance but Devoe Joseph's three-point shot missed as time expired and the Bears sealed the come-from-behind win. Cobbs led the charge with his 28 points to go along with eight assists and zero turnovers in the contest. Kamp poured in 20 points and was active on the glass with six rebounds for the Bears. Joseph led Oregon with a career-high 33 points for the Ducks. Cal will close its home schedule on Saturday against Oregon State inside Haas Pavilion at 7 p.m. as the program honors its seniors Gutierrez and Kamp. Go Bears!
Oregon was strong out of the gates, controlling the first five minutes of play en route to an early four-point lead. The Bears quickly erased the Ducks' advantage, however, and took their first lead in the sixth minute of the contest on a three-pointer by Allen Crabbe.
They held the lead for the next 11:19, going up by as many as nine points on two different occasions during the stretch. Oregon used 7-0 run to cut into the Bears' nine-point advantage and tied the game up at 28 all with 3:45 to go in the first period. An action-packed final three minutes of the opening half included five lead changes and four ties. When the dust settled, and the first half came to a close, Oregon came away with a 40-37 first-half lead. Sophomore Justin Cobbs lead the Bears with nine points and four assists, while Crabbe poured in eight in the opening 20 minutes. Senior Devoe Joseph guided Oregon with 12 points in the first half. Second half is about to get underway... Go Bears!

Head men's basketball coach Mike Montgomery, senior forward Harper Kamp and junior forward Robert Thurman addressed the media following tonight's game against Arizona. Here is video of tonight's postgame press conferences.
In a wild Pac-12 game between Cal and Arizona, the Wildcats escaped with the victory thanks to a game-high 23 points from senior guard Kyle Fogg. The loss for the Bears was their first at Haas Pavilion in this season, snapping a 17-game home winning streak overall, dating back to last season.
Cal (17-6, 7-3) erased an 11-point halftime deficit, storming back with three consecutive three-point plays at one point to tie the game at 72 on a Justin Cobbs dunk with 3:41 to play. However, Fogg answered with a three-pointer with 1:23 left and the Wildcats (15-8, 6-4) held off the charging Bears at the end. Senior Harper Kamp led Cal with a season-high 22 points, his highest total since scoring 33 at home against the same school in triple overtime a year ago. Fellow senior Jorge Gutierrez was active with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. Sophomore Allen Crabbe chipped in 15 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. It was a spirited contest throughout with both teams battling hard up until the end. The fans, dressed in gold for #GoldOutHaas tonight, were the loudest they have been all season. Cal will need the same support when it welcomes Arizona State to Haas Pavilion on Saturday at 2 p.m.
In a wildly-contested game between Cal and Arizona, the Wildcats come out of an exciting first half with a 45-34 lead thanks to a late run.
It was the Bears who were on the attack early as Cal opened a sizable early lead thanks to a 16-3 run. Seniors Jorge Gutierrez and Harper Kamp did most of the damage during the spurt as the Bears surged out the early lead. Gutierrez capped the run with a jumper at the 10:43 mark. Arizona responded in a big way, finishing the half on a 36-12 run over the final 9:17 of the period. Kyle Fogg led the way for the Wildcats with 13 points, while freshman guard Nick Johnson chipped in nine for UA. Gutierrez' 10 and Kamp's eight points lead the way for Cal. Robert Thurman has contributed six off the bench for the Bears. Two minutes left before the second half gets underway. Let's keep our unblemished record at Haas intact with a strong second half. GO BEARS!
