Thanks to a balanced scoring attack, the California women's basketball team leads Oregon State, 39-24, at the half here at Haas Pavilion. Junior guard Layshia Clarendon leads all scorers with eight points, while sophomore Gennifer Brandon has contributed seven points and four rebounds in the opening half.
Talia Caldwell, Lindsay Sherbert and Afure Jemerigbe have six points apiece for the Bears. Caldwell leads Cal with six rebounds in the contest so far.
Cal, which ranks second in the nation in rebounding margin, holds a 20-17 rebounding advantage and is shooting 48.4 percent from the field in the first half.
Ali Gibson leads the Beavers with seven points in the opening half.
