AT THE HALF: Cal holds commanding 44-24 lead over UNLV

Brittany Boyd converted a lay-up 24 seconds into the game and the California women's basketball team hasn't looked back since en route to a 44-24 halftime lead over UNLV in the championship game of the Doubletree by Hilton Berkeley Marina Classic today at Haas Pavilion. Freshman Reshanda Gray leads all scorers with 15 points at the break on 6-of-7 shooting from the field, while junior Talia Caldwell has 12 points and six rebounds for the Bears in the first half.

Boyd leads the Bears with eight assists in the first half.

While the Bears did not record a three-pointer in the opening half, California has controlled the block, out-scoring UNLV 28-10 in the paint. The Bears also hold a commanding 28-14 advantage in rebounding in the first 20 minutes of the contest. Kelli Thompson leads the Lady Rebels with 13 points at the break.
