Head men's basketball coach Mike Montgomery, sophomore guard Allen Crabbe and sophomore forward Richard Solomon each talked to the media after tonight's victory over McNeese State. Here is what they had to say.
Allen Crabbe banked in a three-pointer as time expired in the first half to give No. 24 Cal a 28-26 lead over McNeese at the break and the Bears never looked back en route to a 73-57 victory over the Cowboys tonight at Haas Pavilion. Senior guard Jorge Gutierrez led Cal with 26 points - the most points by a Cal player in a game this season - as he and Crabbe combined for 46 of the Bears' 73 points on the night.
Cal improved its record to a perfect 5-0 at home and 6-1 overall with tonight's victory over the Cowboys to match the Bears' best start under head coach Mike Montgomery. McNeese state fell to 3-3 overall with the loss. The Bears did most of their work in the second half with 45 points in the final period. Cal shot 62.5 percent from the field in the second half to pull away from the Cowboys. Crabbe finished the contest 4-of-8 from three-point land and 8-of-15 overall to give him 20 points for the evening. Gutierrez was 11-of-15 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range to go along with six rebounds and five assists in 34 minutes of action. Cal had a pair of 20-point scorers for the first time this season in Gutierrez and Crabbe. The Bears are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 4 at San Diego State at 2 p.m. Press conferences coming up shortly.
Senior guard Jorge Gutierrez scored a team-high 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field to lead Cal to a 28-26 halftime lead over McNeese State. Dontae Cannon led McNeese State with 10 points in the opening period. The Cowboys led by as many as six in the first half but sophomore guard Allen Crabbe made sure the Bears took the lead into the break with a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Cal the two-point advantage.
The second half is about to get underway here at Haas Pavilion.
Head football coach Jeff Tedford's post game press conference after the Bears' 47-38 victory over Arizona State this past Friday. Cal completed the regular season 7-5 overall and 4-5 in the Pac-12 Conference.

Before tonight's Big Game we went over to Avery Aquatics Center on the Stanford campus to take in the Big Splash between Cal and Stanford. Upon our arrival, the Bears scored four quick goals and led it 4-1 after one quarter. Here is video of Cal's fourth goal of the first quarter.

Part of yesterday's Big Game Week festivities included the Tree Chopping Rally in Sproul Plaza. CalBears.com reporter Chelsea Brown was on hand to take it all in and caught up with one of the lumber jacks afterwards. The Tree Chopping Rally was one of several events during Big Game Week culminating in the Cal-Stanford game at Stanford Stadium on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.

Men's basketball head coach Mike Montgomery, Brandon Smith and Harper Kemp met the media after tonight's 72-55 victory over Austin Peay at Haas Pavilion. The Bears are now 3-0 on the season as Jorge Gutierrez led the way with 14 points and six rebounds.
Day two of Big Game Week brought me to the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco for the Big Sail. Three boats from each school raced on the Bay following a battle of the bands on the deck of the yacht club. Alums of both Cal and Stanford enjoyed a great afternoon of spirited competition on the Bay.

Women's soccer earned its eighth-straight bid to the NCAA Championship on Monday. After competing in the state of Florida the last three seasons in its NCAA opener, the Golden Bears will head to Santa Clara for a 2 p.m. match on Saturday, Nov. 12.
