Cal Athletics has been selected as one of 22 launch partners for Facebook Deals, a free beta program starting in the U.S. that allows local businesses large and small to offer special discounts to people who check into a local business' Facebook Place. Cal is one of three university athletic departments and one of five sports teams taking part in the launch.

Fans are encouraged to check in to "California Memorial Stadium" using Facebook® Places on the Facebook iPhone application or touch.facebook.com and share their experiences with friends on Facebook. While a larger promotion is planned for the Cal-Washington game on Nov. 27, the Cal Athletics Marketing Department also has a deal scheduled for the Cal-Oregon game.

Beginning at 2:30 pm PT on Saturday, Nov. 13, fans can check in to "California Memorial Stadium" using Places on touch.facebook.com or the latest Facebook for iPhone application and 50 lucky fans will win two free tickets to the Cal men's basketball game versus Cal State Northridge on Tuesday, Nov. 16. Fans should follow the instructions on their screens to take part.
