Cal is leading a 16-team field at the conclusion of the first round of action Monday at The Alister MacKenzie Invitational being hosted by the Bears at the par-72, 6,708-yard Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif. The field is scheduled to play 36 holes of golf on Monday, with the second round slated to get underway shortly, followed by the final 18 holes Tuesday beginning with 8 a.m. PT tee times. The Golden Bears shot a -22 under par first round of 262 on Monday and are five shots ahead of second-place San Diego State.

San Diego State's Alex Kang is the individual leader after shooting a nine-under par 62 first round but two Cal players are close behind as Ben Homa and Ben An fired collegiate career-best rounds of eight-under par 63 and six-under par 65 to sit in second and tied for third place, respectively. Two other Cal golfers - Stephen Hale and Michael Weaver - are tied for ninth after four-under par opening rounds of 67, while Eric Mina (T57th, 72, +1) is also competing for the Bears.

Cal is coming off a victory in its last tournament at The Prestige at PGA WEST and was third at the Windon Memorial Classic prior to that.
