With all five of Cal's golfers thru the turn of Thursday's third and round of stroke play, the Golden Bears have dropped into a tie for 23rd place on the team leader board at the NCAA Championships being played at the Honors Course in Ooletwah, Tennessee, located just outside of Chattanooga.

Cal had started third-round action in a tie for 19th but is four-over par as a team in the third round with its golfers having completed holes 12-16. The Bears are now 15-over for the tournament a distant 14 strokes behind the eighth and final match-play qualifying spot that will advance to quarterfinal match-play action Friday. None of the top eight teams at the end of the second round have began their third-round action yet.

On the player leader board, Scott Langley of Illinois has moved into the tournament lead past second-round leader Alex Ching of San Diego. Langley is 10-under par for the tournament and four-under thru 10 holes of his third round Chang will tee off at nine-under par Thursday at 2:49 p.m. EDT/11:49 a.m. PDT.

Michael Weaver got off to an incredible third-round start on Thursday with birdies on four of his first six holes (1, 3, 5, 6) to get back to even-par for the tournament but has since suffered a pair of bogeys (7, 10) and a double-bogey (9). He came back with another birdie on the 12th hole and is currently tied for 65th at three-over for the tournament and is one-over for the day.

Eric Mina ended Wednesday's action in a tie for 43rd place at one-over par but has had a difficult day at four-over through the first 12 holes, with three bogeys (3, 7, 10) and a double-bogey (5), before his first birdie of the day on the 12th hole. He is now five-over for the tournament and has dropped 45 places into a tie for 88th.

Max Homa and Stephen Hale are tied for 107th place.

Homa is one-over thru 14 holes Thursday after two birdies (2, 12) and three bogeys (5, 8, 10). He is now at seven-over for the tournament and tied for 107th.

Hale is even-par through 15 holes with two birdies (10, 15) and two bogeys (3, 14).

Brandon Hagy is seven-over par thru his first 12 holes Thursday with a round that has included a quadruple bogey nine on the par-five 11th hole as well as a double-bogey on the par-four fifth, two bogeys (3, 9) and one birdie (6). He has fallen into a tie for 131st place at 12-over par for the tournament.

The Bear Blog will have another update once all the Cal players have wrapped up third-round play.
