Third round action is underway (see pics below to prove it) at the 2010 NCAA San Diego Regional is underway but unless if you're there, or you have the cell phone number of one our coaches (don't call even if you do, just try to be funny) it might be tough to get results throughout the day. For the third consecutive day, there is more traffic than the servers at Golfstat can handle.
That's the bad news. The good news is that there are lots of people interested in the six NCAA Regionals going on across the country.
Cal starts Saturday's final day of action two shots behind tournament leader Oregon, while Golden Bear freshman Michael Weaver is in the hunt for individual medalist honors as he begins the day tied for fourth place at even-par for the tournament and four strokes off the lead.
The Ducks have a 36-hole team eight-over par team score of 584 and lead the 10-over par Golden Bears (294-292 - 586) by two strokes. UNLV (+12), Augusta State (+13) and Tennessee (+14) round out the top five. The top five teams (and the lowest scoring individual not from one of those five squads) qualify for the NCAA Championships being held June 1-6 at The Honors Course in Chattanooga. Cal begins the day's action 10 shots ahead of the closest challenger - sixth place Central Florida (+20).
The last time the Bears made the NCAA Championships was when they won the whole thing for the only time in school history back in 2004.
Continue to stay tuned to the Bear Blog as we will provide updated information as we receiver it from our sources.
See, told you they've started. Here is Brandon Hagy teeing off from the first hole.
