Spring 2015: Finished his sophomore single’s season with a 15-13 record… was ranked 97th in the second to last ITA singles poll of the season…in doubles play, he was mainly paired with Mads Engsted and posted a 21-13 overall record… the pair finished the season strong, winning nine of its last 14 dual-match contests, including a win over USC’s seventh-ranked Max de Vroome and Thibault Forget, 6-3…Bergevi and Engsted contributed to Cal’s consolation final win over Tulsa, 4-0, in the BNP Paribas Collegiate Challenge presented by Oracle, beating 53rd-ranked Carlos Bautista/Alejandro Espejo, 6-0, at court-two doubles…in singles play, Bergevi steadily played at the No.2 spot…in the Feb. 21 Big Slam in Berkeley, he paired with Engsted to clinch the doubles point with a 7-5 win over Nolan Paige/David Wilczynski and then, beat Wilczynski in singles, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, in a 4-3 upset loss to the 39th-ranked Cardinal.
Fall 2014: Garnered a No. 120 singles ranking in the fall…paired with three different doubles partners during the fall, Bergevi had a solid first half of the season, including making it to the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Doubles Championship, in which he and Mads Engsted fell to Washington’s Emmett Egger and Jeff Hawke, 8-7(3) … in singles play, Bergevi started off the season strong, winning his first two matches in the Napa Valley Fall Classic…he upset 31st-ranked Lloyd Glasspool of Texas, 6-3, 6-3, and then Harvard’s 18th-ranked Denis Nguyen, 7-5, 7-6(3), in Napa…in the ensuing Solinco Wild Card Shoot Out in Napa, Bergevi lost to Tulsa’s Or Ram-Harel, 10-7…Bergevi continued his season making it to the round of 32 of the USTA/ITA regional doubles tournament, eventually falling to Washington’s Mitch Stewart, 6-4, 7-6(10).
Spring 2014: Capped a strong first season with the ITA Northwest Region Rookie of the Year honor…notched a 21-13 singles record and 15-11 doubles record…won his last match – 6-3, 6-3 over Adrien Berkowicz – in Cal’s 4-1 NCAA round of 16 loss to ninth-seeded/ranked Texas…in Cal’s NCAA second-round match, Bergevi and Mads Engsted won in doubles, 8-7(2), to help the Bears upset eighth-seeded/10th-ranked Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
Fall 2013: The Cal freshmen class had a strong debut, including Bergevi’s 7-6 singles record and 3-5 doubles mark…at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships, he won four matches before falling in the quarterfinals to teammate Campbell Johnson.
Personal/Previous: The Swede has been one of the top players on the ITF Junior circuit, on which he has amassed a career-high world ranking of No. 34. He played in the 2012 Junior French Open, Junior Wimbledon, European Championships, Canadian Junior Open Championships and Junior U.S. Open. His ATP Tour singles ranking is 1245 and his doubles ranking is 872.
