Three incoming freshmen combined to score 11 goals in two wins at the World Junior Championships on Thursday in Volos, Greece.

Roser Tarrago had a team-high six goals, including four in the first period, as Spain rolled past New Zealand 17-5. Meanwhile, Hungary’s Dora Antal scored three times and Anna Illes added two goals in a 24-4 victory over Ukraine.

Hungary’s victory sets up a quarterfinal showdown against the United States on Friday, meaning Antal and Illes will go head-to-head with Cal teammate Tiera Schroeder, a junior on the American team. The United States didn’t play Thursday.

Spain, meanwhile, advances to another quarterfinal matchup against Australia on Friday.
