BARCELONA – Cal incoming freshman Roser Tarrago contributed a goal and Spain edged Hungary 13-12 on Wednesday in the semifinals of the FINA World Championships.

Spain, the host team, will meet Australia on Friday for the title.

Fellow Cal freshman-to-be Dora Antal led the Hungarians with four goals. She scored once in the first period, added two more goals in the second period and another in the third. Her final goal put Hungary up 11-9 with 4:37 remaining in the third quarter.

Yet another incoming Cal freshman, Anna Illes, plays for Hungary but did not score.

Tarrago’s goal came with 4:33 remaining in the second period and gave Spain a 7-6 lead.

Tarrago was a member of Spain’s Olympic team that captured the Silver Medal last summer. Antal played on Hungary’s 2012 Olympic Team that played in the Bronze Medal game. Illes was captain of the Hungarian Junior National Team that won a Silver Medal at the European Youth Championships in 2012.
