Cal junior Tiera Schroeder has been added to the final roster for the Futures 50 Classic, to be played Oct. 25-27 at Foothill High School in Santa Ana, Calif.
Previously, the Bears’ Michelle Caron, Stephanie Mutafyan, Emily Loughlin and Madeline Trabucco were selected to play in the tournament.
Players are divided into four teams that are named after the four locations that showcased women’s water polo in the Olympics. Trabucco and Loughlin are playing for Team Beijing, Mutafyan is on the Team Athens roster, Caron will compete for Team Sydney while Schroeder is on Team London.
Schroeder finished fourth on the Bears last season with 27 goals and was a member of the U.S. Junior National Team last summer. Caron played in 22 of Cal’s 24 matches as a sophomore last year and recorded 14 goals as the Bears finished the season ranked No. 5 in the country.
Loughlin, Mutafyan and Trabucco are all freshman who have yet to compete in their first season with the Bears. Loughlin and Mutafyan have been members of the U.S. Youth National Team and were each part of the Bears’ 13-player roster that competed at the World University Games last summer in Kazan, Russia, along with Schroeder. Trabucco was a NISCA/Speedo All-American at Santa Barbara High School.
