Bears Fall To Australia

Senior Ashley Young scored a pair of goals but the Cal women's water polo team fell to Australia 9-5 on Sunday in the loser's bracket semfifinals at the World University Games.

The Bears are playing as Team USA at the games after being selected by USA Water Polo to represent the country at the event.

Young now has eight goals for the tournament, the Bears leading scorer.

Junior Tiera Schroeder and freshmen Stephanie Mutafyan and Brigitta Games also scored for Cal.

Sophomore goalie Kathleen Menz made five saves for the Bears while freshman Kelsey Roland made one.

The Bears will close out play at the World University Games on Tuesday in the Seventh Place Game against France.
