Well, it's a beautiful day here in Kazan. The sun is out and the flags are up. Oh, but hold up. Wait for it. ...This just in, the main street of the village is flooded and people are frantically running, soaked from head to toe. Talk about flash flooding. We just experienced our first exciting, 20-minute thunderstorm in Russia... And we get excited about the rain/drizzle in Berkeley.
Folks, it's that time of year to be adventurous and touristy. Yes, Cal Women's Water Polo takes on Kazan! We recently embarked on a three-hour tour of the Kazan Kremlin, a World Heritage Site. However, unlike Gilligan's three-hour tour, our team did not end up stranded. We did get to visit a mosque after wrapping our heads and legs in cloth. This made for some interesting pictures. Everything was really captivating and the history was very cool. It did make for a long day, but it was all worth it when we ended our tour with some ice cream!
We've had quite a run at the Games with three matches completed and three to go. We started with losses against both Hungary and France while tying Australia in our most recent game. Although this record isn't stellar, our squad is coming out of it with some great experience. We have come a long way since we began playing together this summer, and I'm confident that things will only get better!
