BERKELEY – Former Holy Cross assistant coach Kacie Lewis has been named an assistant coach for Cal lacrosse, as announced on Tuesday by first-year head coach Brooke Eubanks.

“I am so excited that Kacie has decided to join the Cal lacrosse family,” Eubanks said. “She gets to come back to California as she is a California native and help the Bears develop West Coast dominance. Her knowledge of the West and East Coast will be a huge benefit to our recruiting. She also has defensive expertise which will help round out our staff.  Kacie has a strong passion for coaching and I can't wait to get her on the field.”

Lewis spent one season as an assistant at Holy Cross, working with both the offensive and defensive units, as well as the goalkeepers. In addition to coaching at Holy Cross, Lewis also coached the Central Massachusetts club team last season.

Prior to her arrival at Holy Cross Lewis was a four-year letterwinner at UConn, serving as team captain in 2012 and 2013. Over Lewis’ four years on the team, the Huskies’ record improved every year, culminating in a 13-5 record and a NCAA Tournament appearance during her senior season. It was the program’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2013.

A native of San Diego, Calif., Lewis began her coaching career in 2010 as the coach of the San Diego Lax Dawgs club lacrosse team. She went on to serve as a counselor for lacrosse camps at USC, Duke, Stanford, Brown, Princeton, Georgetown and UConn at different periods from 2011 through 2013. She was co-director of the Starhill Clinic in Tolland, Conn. from 2011- 2013. In 2013, Lewis’ final season at UConn, she served as the intern to head coach Katie Woods.

The hire of Lewis marks Eubanks’ second hire since being named head coach on July 31. Her first hire was naming former Cal standout Megan Takacs as an assistant coach on Aug. 13.
