BERKELEY - Fourteen Golden Bears were named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Women's Rowing squads, the most since 2009. Senior Maggie Simpson was selected to the first team for the second-straight season while Camilla Gardiner earned her first selection to the first team.

The 14 all-academic honorees were the most since 2009 when 22 Golden Bears were recognized by the conference. To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average.

Simpson, who majored in English, earned all-academic honors for the third-straight year. She is a three-time Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar Athlete, garnering her third honor by the CRCA last week. Gardiner is a first-time All-Academic selection and was honored as a first-team pick. Gardiner had the highest GPA on the women's crew team over the 2012-13 season.

Six Golden Bears earned second-team all-academic honors, including Lynn Anderson, Moraya Cleary, Stephanie Ding, Rachel Ersted, Vanessa Gerber and Darinka Lipovac. Anderson, who was also named a CRCA National Scholar Athlete last week, received conference all-academic laurels for the third-straight year. Ding and Ersted were recognized for the second-straight year, while Gerber and Lipovac were first-time academic honorees.

Christine Bernatz, Ellie Byrd, Stephanie Kraemer, Kyndal Mancho, Lindsay Meltz and Maddie Wolf were each honorable mention selections. Mancho collected her third conference all-academic recognition.

Cal's varsity eight captured an NCAA title to guide the Golden Bears to a second-place finish as a team in the NCAA Championships at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Ind. this past Sunday.
