BERKELEY – Inside the Locker Room presented by Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, Cal’s weekly radio show on KGO AM 810, makes its 2013-14 debut on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The program will air on Wednesday each week from 7-8 p.m. through March, and fans are invited to tune in or watch in person from the Field Club inside Memorial Stadium.
Hosted by Todd McKim, Inside the Locker Room features guests from throughout Cal Athletics. In the fall, listeners can expect to hear from football coach Sonny Dykes each week, along with players and assistant coaches. In addition, student-athletes and coaches from Cal’s Olympic sports and others with Golden Bear ties, including Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour, will make regular appearances.
Once the basketball seasons get underway, men’s coach Mike Montgomery and women’s coach Lindsay Gottlieb will join McKim on the program.
Fans coming to the Field Club should enter Memorial Stadium through Gate 2 at the northwest corner of the facility. Cal Dining will offer food for sale, including such items as hamburgers, hot dogs, wings, Portobello sandwiches and sweet potato fries.
Fans can submit questions for any of the guests through Twitter by using the hashtag #LockerRoomLive. The list of guests will be included in a story on CalBears.com a day or two before each show airs.
Cal football returns to KGO Radio for the 40th consecutive season this fall with Joe Starkey calling play-by-play for the 39th straight year. He will be joined in the booth by former Cal quarterback Mike Pawlawski and McKim on the sidelines.
Coverage begins each Saturday with the Toyota Tailgate Show one hour before kickoff. For home games, the segment originates from Tailgate Town on Maxwell Family Field. The show then moves indoors 30 minutes later for the Toyota Countdown to Kickoff.
The GEICO Postgame Show follows each contest and includes interviews with Dykes and several Golden Bear players. Coverage wraps up with Outside the Locker Room at the Claremont Hotel, Club and Spa with hosts Lee Grosscup and Danny Freisinger.
