SALT LAKE CITY – Brittany Boyd scored 24 points to go with a team-high seven rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead No. 19 California to a 68-59 victory over Utah Sunday afternoon at the Jon Huntsman Center.

The Bears (12-3, 4-0 Pac-12) remain unbeaten in Pac-12 play and were bolstered by a 13-of-17 effort from the free throw – setting a new high for the Lindsay Gottlieb era.

Utah (7-8, 0-4 Pac-12) dropped its fourth consecutive game despite a 19-point, 14-rebound effort from Michelle Plouffe.

California used runs of 7-0 and 9-0 in the first half to gain separation and take a 28-15 lead with 9:39 remaining, but the Bears only converted three more field goals over the final nine minutes of the half to lead 34-29 at the break.

Leading 45-39 with 9:35 to go in the second half, Cal’s defense only allowed Utah to score five field goals the rest of the way. The Bears made eight of 12 free throws in the final two minutes to secure the victory.
