BERKELEY – No. 22/22 California hosts Arizona on Valentine’s Day for the annual Play 4Kay pink game at Haas Pavilion. Tip-off between the Bears (16-7, 8-4 Pac-12) and Wildcats (5-18, 1-11 Pac-12) is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT and will air live on the Pac-12 Networks with Krista Blunk (play-by-play) and Mary Murphy (analyst) on the call.

Cal has won 14 consecutive games against the Wildcats - California’s second-longest active streak against a conference opponent. The Bears defeated the Wildcats 79-54 earlier this season in Tucson. Arizona’s last victory in the series was an 80-76 win in Berkeley on January 22, 2006.

PLAY4KAY
Friday night is Cal’s “Play 4Kay Pink Game” with fans encouraged to wear pink in support of the efforts to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. There will also be a silent auction for fans to help the cause. Each member of the California team has created a custom t-shirt that they will wear during warm-ups. All 12 t-shirts will be available in the auction. Last year Cal raised $1,795 for the Kay Yow Fund.

A CALIFORNIA WIN OVER ARIZONA WOULD:
* Give the Golden Bears their 15th consecutive victory over the Wildcats
* Improve Lindsay Gottlieb to 34-1 all-time against non-California based Pac-12 schools
* Even the all-time series between the two teams at 29-29
* Move Lindsay Gottlieb to 39-10 in ALL Pac-12 regular season games at California

GAME RECAP (California 87, WSU 70): No. 23/22 Cal used a 19-0 second half run to break away from Washington State with an 87-70 victory. For the second consecutive game, Reshanda Gray and Gennifer Brandon both hit double-doubles with the highlight being Gray’s layup in the first half that made her the 26th member of the California 1,000-point club.

GOTTLIEB VS THE PAC-12: California head coach Lindsay Gottlieb has solidified her mark as one of the sport’s brightest young coaches since taking over the California women’s basketball program prior to the 2011-12 season. Gottlieb is 33-1 against Pac-12 schools not from the state of California and is 8-11 against California-based Pac-12 schools in regular season and postseason action.

THE 1,000 CLUB: Earlier this season, Gennifer Brandon became the 24th (vs Oregon) and Brittany Boyd (at ASU) became the 25th members of the California 1,000-point club. With a 24-point outing at Washington State, junior Reshanda Gray became the 26th member of the club. California is now the only team in the Pac-12 with three 1,000-point scorers on their current roster. The last time the Bears had three concurrent 1,000-point scorers was at the end of the 2009 season when Alexis Gray-Lawson, Ashley Walker and Devanei Hampton all were at the mark.

BRANDON BECOMES ALL-TIME LEADER: Senior Gennifer Brandon pulled down 20 rebounds at Washington State and in the process became California’s all-time rebounding leader. Brandon now has 1130 career boards, passing Ashley Walker (1117) for the top spot in the Golden Bear record book. Brandon also has the top two single season marks in Cal history as well.

TRIPLE-DOUBLE BOYD?: Brittany Boyd was one assist shy of a triple-double twice this season - the first against USC with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists and the second Friday night at Washington with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. The only triple-double in California women’s basketball history was by Eliza Sokolowska who put up 13 points, 15 assists and 10 steals against Arizona State on Feb. 9, 1995.

BOYD JOINS ELITE COMPANY IN MIDSEASON WATCH LISTS: Junior guard Brittany Boyd has recently been named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list (one of 29), the Wooden Award Midseason Top 20* (one of 21), the Dawn Staley Award watch list (one of 16), the Naismith Midseason Watch List (one of 30) and the Wade Trophy watch list. The Lieberman recognizes the top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball, the Wooden is awarded to the top overall player in college basketball, the Dawn Staley Award recognizes the nation’s top guard, and the Naismith and Wade Trophy both recognize the top player overall. Boyd is one of just four players in the country named to all five midseason lists - joining Jerica Coley (FIU), Bria Hartley (UConn) and Odyssey Sims (Baylor) with that distinction.

BEARS RISE PAC-12 ALL-TIME RECORD BOOKS: California’s Gennifer Brandon and Brittany Boyd are steadily rising up the Pac-12 all-time record books as both approach various Top 10 marks in conference history. With 1130 career rebounds, Brandon is just four shy of matching Val Whiting (Stanford, 1989-93) for 10th all-time and 84 shy of Lisa Leslie (USC, 1991-94) for fifth all-time. Boyd is steadily approaching the top 10 lists for career steals. With 252 career thefts, Boyd is 22 shy of matching Nicole Anderson (UCLA, 1990-93) for 10th all-time and 36 shy of Michelle Greco (UCLA, 1999-03) for fifth all-time.

JEMERIGBE’S JUMPER: Senior Afure Jemerigbe has been an improved scorer for the Golden Bears this season and has been one of the most clutch performers for Cal since the start of Pac-12 play. Against Colorado, Jemerigbe hit the game-winning field goal with six seconds remaining, and the Stockton native scored 16 points at Arizona State with Brittany Boyd and Reshanda Gray in foul trouble. Against USC, Jemerigbe matched her then-career-high with 17 points before upping it with 18 against Stanford and matching the 18 at Washington State.
