Post-Game Quotes: Northwestern

"I told the team in the locker room that this is a game we can learn a lot from, and a game they can take a lot from. That's nice to do in a win. I really credit Northwestern coming off some injuries and rough games. Their spirit was up, they executed and the crowd was phenomenal. Their marketing department that brought all of those kids did a great job. I couldn't hear myself think. They could barely hear me in the timeouts, but this is exactly why you schedule these games. To be on the road in a tournament like atmosphere and have to respond to adversity. The adversity hit in a lot of ways. Early on we missed some good looks. It was tough to get separation when you don't make shots. The officiating obviously was something we're not used to. We're used to playing very aggressively, and they called it tight. I thought we ultimately responded to that. Also the fact that Northwestern played so well. Those are the things that we can be happy that we were able to respond, and also look at the film and see what we can get better at."
"I don't think that the early start affected us at all. I thought the energy level was great. More than anything I credit Northwestern. This is a team that came out here and played like they wanted to beat a top 10 team. They are very different in style from us. They executed their identity well, which caused some problems for us. I thought our effort was terrific. Our ability to make shots and plays was below what we want, but we were able to respond to that and get a win anyway."
