BERKELEY – Freshman second baseman Robbie Tenerowicz went 4-for-4 with three doubles and sophomore right-hander Ryan Mason improved his record to 6-1 as Cal defeated Arizona, 6-4, Sunday at Evans Diamond. With the win, the Golden Bears (23-26, 11-16) won their second consecutive Pac-12 series after defeating the Wildcats (20-32, 9-21), 7-6, in 12 innings Saturday night. Cal had lost, 6-0, to ArizonaFriday. Last weekend the Bears won two-of-three games at USC.

Tenerowicz had a stellar game, hitting a double to right center field in the second inning off of Wildcat starter Tyger Talley (1-4, 5.1 innings, nine hits, six runs, one walk, one strikeout), an RBI double down the left field line in the fourth inning and a two-run double to left field in sixth inning to finish with three RBI.

Mason earned his sixth win by going 6.0 innings with nine hits, four runs, two walks and two strikeouts. Redshirt freshman Jordan Talbot picked up his second save by throwing the final 1.2 innings with one hit and one strikeout.

Another top hitter for the Bears was senior left fielder Vince Bruno, who went 2-for-4 and had an RBI single in the sixth inning. Bruno was one of eight Cal seniors who were honored during the final home game of the 2014 season. Freshman third baseman Lucas Erceg had an RBI single in the first inning and freshman center fielder Aaron Knapp drove in a run with a single up the middle in the second inning.

“We are playing better ball,” said Cal coach David Esquer. “Some of our younger players are starting to do well, and our older players are performing too. I can tell our younger players are feeling more comfortable, which is great because they are the ones we are going to be relying on in the future.”

The Bears will next travel to San Francisco Monday, May 19 for a 2 p.m. non-conference game at San Francisco, before concluding Pac-12 playMay 22-24 at Oregon in a three-game conference series at PK Park in Eugene.
