Cal Baseball Game Versus Stanford Rained Out

Bears next face WSU in the Palouse
By Cal Athletics on Tue, April 01, 2014

BERKELEY – Rain in the Bay Area has forced a cancellation of Cal Baseball’s contest versus Stanford, scheduled for today (Tuesday, April 1) at 7 p.m. at Evans Diamond. No make-up date for the non-league game has been determined. The Golden Bears will next travel to the Palouse to face Washington State (10-11, 3-3) in a three-game conference series, April 4-6, in Pullman, Wash. Game times are 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday at Bailey Brayton Field.

Cal, 14-12 overall and 3-3 in the Pac-12, is fresh off of sweeping Utah (4-2, 5-4, 8-7) last weekend at Evans Diamond. The Bears’ tentative pitching rotation for their series versus the Cougars is freshman right-hander Daulton Jefferies (2-2, 3.29), senior left-hander Kyle Porter (4-1, 2.75 ERA) and sophomore right-hander Ryan Mason (2-0, 3.24 ERA). A top reliever for Cal is senior right-hander Trevor Hildenberger (1-1, 2.11 ERA), who picked up a win and two saves in the Utah series, and is second in the Pac-12 with seven saves.

Offensively, the Bears are led by junior second baseman Brenden Farney with a .375 average and 14 RBI, while junior shortstop Derek Campbell tops the conference with five home runs and has 12 RBI on the year.
