Bears Fall To Slovenian Junior National Team

Higgins Leads Cal With 10 Kills

MARIBOR, Slovenia – Senior opposite hitter Christina Higgins had 10 kills and three blocks but the Cal Volleyball team fell to the Slovenian Junior National Team, 27-25, 25-16, 25-18, on Monday at the Hotel Dras Sports Center.

Sophomore libero Maddy Kerr led the Bears with 15 digs. Junior middle blocker Lillian Schonewise added five kills at a .333 hitting percentage.

The Bears held a 23-20 lead in the first set before the Slovenian team came back for the victory.

Monday’s match was part of a four-team tournament taking place in Maribor this week. Cal’s next match will be Tuesday against the Chinese Junior National Team. The match will begin at 7 a.m. PT and can be found on a live stream by clicking here.

Earlier in the day, the Bears took part in a ropes course at the nearby Mariborsko Pohorje Ski Resort. They also went down the facility’s alpine slide about 800 feet to get back to their hotel.

Before their match Tuesday, the Bears will take a tour of the city of Maribor.
